Case Studies

Water tank resurrection:

Our highly skilled and experienced team have almost seen it all! From tractors to horse gates, drilling rig to a spade, whatever you need repairing – give Hautapu Welders a call first. This water tank was found in a paddock by one of our customers. We resurrected it and put a set of wheels in the front with a PTO drive pump that could fill the tank in a few minutes, and then spray an 80 metre wide area for dust control on property development sites.

You never know what we can fix until you try us.We’re happy to do offsite call outs and repairs, so if you’re too busy to come in, we’ll come to you. If you need some welding done, we can do that in our workshop and we’ll give you honest advice on your job. If we see something that’s better off being replaced rather than repaired – or if it’ll last for a bit longer as it is – we’ll let you know.

Steam bike and car construction:

This little beauty has been the pet project for one of our master engineers, Nigel. Nigel has spent countless hours working on the wonderful steam car and steam bike in his spare time, bringing new life into the old-fashioned machines. He used his engineering knowledge and adapted the traditional steam bike and car to create this masterpiece. River bed redirection:

A contractor redirected a river bed and used a MaxiScoop 600 to transport the rocks from the river to the crusher. The crushed rocks were then reloaded into the scoop before being spread onto cow lanes. He pulled another tip trailer behind and tipped the trailer load off and used the scoop to level and finish the job.

Oxidation pond:

A MaxiScoop 600 behind a FIAT G 170. Nearing completion of an oxidation pond in Taranaki. The pond was over 2 metres deep yet completed in just 4.5 hours with a MaxiScoop 600!

Tractor resurrection:

As you can see – a tractor with rust damage was no match for Hautapu Welders! We re-coated this tractor and added some necessities – a cover for work in the rain and a crane function for heavy lifting.

Worm Harvester Fabrication:

Here we have a worm harvester that can be pulled by a 4 wheel motorbike, the worm harvester has an offset drawbar so the bike does not ride on the worm beds. A great machine to handle a very delicate environmental subject.

Salad harvesters:

When it comes to harvesting produce for selling in the market place for human consumption it is important the produce is not damaged and is presented in 1st class condition. This harvester had to meet very rigid requirements to achieve this.

Farm Race:

This race was cut and formed using a Maxiscoop 800, stripping the top soil then forming the sub soil to create the cambers and v drains for this driveway. Sand was also cut from this block then spread as a base course for the drive.

Subdivision:

This subdivision had all its ground works done by a MAXI 800 which was towed by a John Deere 8400. The roads were all cut using the MAXI 800 only and to council specifications. On this job, the contractor did 240 cycles a day each time shifting an average of 8.5m2, stock piling it in piles which were able to be driven over. The topsoil was divided & spread over the 10 acre block of land. In one day, the MAXI 800 was shifting over 2000 metres of top soil (averaging 30 loads an hour) with a round trip of approx ½ a km.
